Great Minds: Migrants and Medicine

The Migration Museum Project and CARA are pleased to announce a new seminar series Great Minds where we will be exploring some of the hugely significant contributions which people from migrant backgrounds have made to the intellectual life of the UK. Why not join us for our first evening of talks on the theme of Medicine, discussing the Paralympics, Psychology and Pharmaceuticals.

This event will be chaired by Ian Blatchford, Director of the Science Museum.

Speakers:

Eva Loeffler OBE – The Paralympics

Eva Loeffler, daughter of Sir Ludwig Guttmann, will be discussing her father’s work and legacy as founder of the Paralympics.

Professor Dinesh Bhugra CBE – The Psychology of Migration

Professor Dinesh Bhugra will present some of his own research into migration and mental health.

Ross MacFarlane, The Wellcome Collection – Pharmaceuticals

Ross McFarlane of the Wellcome Collection will be explore the work of Henry Wellcome’s pharmaceutical research laborotories, and his work in the field of tropical medicine.
