An event organised by LSE STAR (Student Action for Refugees) and the LSE Student Union to promote Equal Access to Higher Education for asylum seekers and refugees in the UK.
The panel will discuss equal access to education for Asylum seekers and those who have been granted Discretionary Leave to Remain (DLR) in the UK as they do not have access to student loans and are forced to pay international fees. They have no right to work and are given £36 a week to survive.
Someone who has fled their country of origin to avoid war, torture or persecution should be differentiated from an international student who has chosen to study in Britain.
